From Boston to Davos

Much of January had me connecting with people around the world on behalf of Ice911 Research. I was invited to participate in two wonderful events hosted by the Foundation for Climate Restoration. The first was in Boston, Massachusetts (USA) and the second in Davos (Switzerland).

On the two high-impact panels at a scientific conference in Boston, the centennial of the American Meteorological Society, I was in the company of such luminaries as Gavin Schmidt, Professor Susan Solomon, and Rick Parnell.

One week later, I spoke at an exclusive dinner meeting during the World Economic Forum in Davos, to an audience of executives, philanthropists, scientists, and media.

While in Davos, I attended fascinating presentations including a session by the Geneva Macrolab, and a dinner meeting focused on healthy eating for our own and the planet’s well-being. I spent fruitful time at the Arctic Base Camp, where I met with scientists, instrumentation builders, and student activists.

Additionally, I participated in various conversations with amazing people including an astronaut, garnered some more international media coverage of our work, and attended discussions and presentations at the Equality Lounge, including a thoughtful and informative panel on climate issues led by Julia Jackson, founder of the Grounded Summit.

Throughout my time at these two very different venues, the changing climate reality and people’s awareness of it were very apparent. People are hungry for solutions, for well-founded, reality-based hope, and to find a path to address how to restore a more stable climate and the minimized risks that would result, for ourselves and the future of life on this precious planet of ours.

I’ve come back to our home base in the San Francisco Bay Area with increased connections, and a deeper appreciation of how people are mobilizing around the world to make the changes we need for the future of humanity.

Up next for Ice911 - continued and ever-accelerating R&D work and organizational growth, to tackle the scientific, funding, and logistical challenges of finishing our work to evaluate, refine and ready our approach to restore reflectivity in the Arctic. We’re working urgently to make a difference in climate stability to give the world the time needed to complete the critical work of decarbonizing the atmosphere and economy.

Many thanks for your part in our shared journey and work,
Dr. Leslie Field, Founder and CTO
