ARCTIC TEST SITE
Welcome to Utqiaġvik, Alaska, USA, located at the northernmost tip of the United States! Because it’s surrounded by wilderness tundra and not accessible by road, we haul all of our equipment in by snowmobiles.
Utqiaġvik, a population of about 4,000, is home to the Iñupiat People, as well as many scientists who’ve come to the area for work.

Lake Ice Testing
Over the past several years we’ve been testing and evaluating materials on frozen lake ice locations across the United States, including Utqiaġvik, Alaska. We use an automated material spreader to ensure that solutions are uniformly distributed. Because testing happens on lake ice, the team has been able to observe what happens to materials when the ice fully melts.
Sea Ice Testing
Due to COVID-19 our sea ice testing has been delayed. We are remaining positive with the hope that we’ll begin testing climate restoration solutions on Arctic sea ice in Manitoba, Canada in the winter of 2020.
